MINDFULNESS & NEUROSCIENCE  2015

In 2015 the event focused on integrating science with mindfulness meditation, and included expert speakers in the fields of neuroscience and mindfulness; with real life case studies from those who have successfully overcome depression, anxiety and stress.

The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion

The Flame's national events are revolutionising health and wellness. Mindfulness and Neuroscience was the 3rd successive mindfulness event and in 2015 an expert in the field of Neuroscience explored the medical and scientific research that is now unraveling the incredible impact of mindfulness practice on our health, well-being and changes in the brain.

The event included a talk from expert speaker Dr. Amy Bilderbeck, a post doctoral Neuroscientist from Oxford University. Dr. Amy specialises in 'mood instability' - the tendency for moods to change rapidly, and problematically, in some individuals. By understanding the nature of mood instability more clearly, and the impact it has on people's lives, Oxford Neuroscience hopes to better understand conditions like bipolar disorder and boderline personality disorder. Amy works with Professors Guy Goodwin and John Geddes to support the OXTEXT and CONBRIO research programs. These projects have over lapping themes, and broadly speaking, both investigate the symptomatology, neuropsychology, neurophysiology and genetics of bipolar disorder. Davinder Panesar discussed Mindfulness and compassion based therapies and led the collective compassion based mindfulness meditation.
